I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) has separate domestic and international terminals, free WiFi, several lounges, and a fairly simple arrivals process. For an international departure, three hours at the airport is a sensible target, with extra travel time added for Bali traffic. Documents You Need Before You Fly
For arrivals, start with your passport. It should remain valid for at least six months from your arrival date. Eligible travelers can use a Visa on Arrival or e-VoA, while the All Indonesia Arrival Card combines immigration, customs, health, and quarantine declarations and can be completed within three days before arrival. Bali also charges international tourists a IDR 150,000 tourist levy.
If you travel with prescription medication, bring supporting documentation and check Indonesian regulations before flying. It is also worth checking the Bali weather while packing, especially during wet season when leaving the rain gear at home can become an irritating little oversight.
For departure, check your visa expiration date before heading to the airport. Overstaying can incur a IDR 1 million-per-day fine. Getting to Know Bali Airport
Ngurah Rai has two main passenger terminals, one domestic and one international. They sit within the same airport complex, so make sure you follow the terminal listed for your particular flight rather than simply going by airline.
Free WiFi is available in the terminals, although keeping screenshots of boarding passes, visas, QR codes, and transfer details is still wise in case the connection slows down.
Lounge names have changed over the years. Tujuwan is associated with the former Premier Lounge, while Concordia Lounge is currently listed in International Departures after immigration. Domestic travelers can also find Blue Sky Premier Lounge on the second floor near Gate 6.
Arriving at Bali Airport
International arrivals proceed through immigration, baggage claim, and customs before reaching the public arrivals area. From there, travelers can continue by airport taxi, Grab, Gojek, hotel transfer, or a pre-booked private driver.

Departing Bali and How Early to Arrive
For international flights, aim to reach Ngurah Rai around three hours before departure. International check-in and bag-drop counters for several major airlines open around this point, leaving enough room for check-in, security, immigration, and the walk to your gate.
The bigger calculation is when to leave your hotel. Bali traffic can turn a seemingly manageable drive into a much longer one, especially from Canggu, Ubud, or Uluwatu. Check live traffic before leaving and add a comfortable buffer.
Other Useful Things to Know
Ngurah Rai has ATMs, money changers, SIM card counters, restaurants, shops, duty-free shopping, and luggage storage. Food and retail options continue after immigration, so arriving early does not necessarily mean three hours of staring at a departure board.
