BALI WEATHER IN JUNE
Near-Perfect Weather · Bali Arts Festival · High Season Opens · Prime Surf
June is widely considered the sweet spot of Bali's calendar — near-perfect weather, the world-famous Bali Arts Festival in full swing, and the high season energy without the overwhelming peak crowds of July and August.
June at a Glance
What to Expect in June
June is Bali at its finest. The dry season is fully established, the southeast trade winds arrive with purpose, and the island enters high season with clean beaches, clear skies, and exceptional outdoor conditions across the board. It is consistently ranked alongside September as the ideal month to visit Bali by experienced travellers and travel experts alike.
Temperatures in June sit at 24–32°C — warm but not overwhelming, particularly along the coast where the southeast trade winds maintain a pleasantly cooling breeze throughout the day. Humidity drops to around 79%, the lowest of the year alongside July and August, making physical activities and outdoor exploration genuinely comfortable. Evenings cool to an agreeable 24°C.
Rainfall is almost negligible in June, averaging just 28mm over approximately 5 days. On the rare day it rains, showers are typically brief and localised. For all practical purposes, June is a dry month and you can plan activities without any meaningful concern about rain.
The arrival of June also brings Bali's cultural calendar to life. The Bali Arts Festival — the island's premier cultural event, running from mid-June through mid-July — transforms Denpasar's Werdi Budaya Arts Centre into a month-long celebration of traditional and contemporary Balinese arts, music, dance, and craft.
Temperature
June's combination of warm temperatures (29–31°C), low humidity (79%), and consistent trade winds creates what many consider the most comfortable weather of the year in Bali. The 'feels like' temperature is often several degrees below the actual reading, making midday activities far more pleasant than in the wet season months. Highlands are cool and refreshing, often dropping below 20°C at night.
With only around 5 rainy days and approximately 9 hours of sunshine daily, June is one of Bali's sunniest months. The sea temperature begins its seasonal cooling to around 27°C as the trade winds push warm surface water offshore. This cooler, cleaner water dramatically improves underwater visibility — diving and snorkelling conditions are excellent around Amed, Nusa Penida, and Tulamben.
Rainfall Pattern
June represents the beginning of peak surf season on Bali's west coast. Wave sizes reach 4–8 feet at Padang Padang, Uluwatu, and Bingin as the south and southwest Indian Ocean swells build in size and consistency. Padang Padang in June starts delivering the legendary barrel rides that made it globally famous. Crowds in the water are building but have not yet reached the August peak. Early morning sessions remain relatively uncrowded.
Surf Conditions
June sits at the opening of high season. Crowds are noticeably higher than May but have not yet reached the intensity of July–August. The first half of June in particular remains more manageable. Accommodation prices begin rising as high season opens — advance booking is increasingly important, particularly for popular villa properties and boutique hotels.

June's Daily Weather Rhythm
June offers the most reliable all-day outdoor conditions of the year. Planning is simple: virtually any activity can be done at any time of day without meaningful rain risk.
Morning: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM — Calm, Cool & Spectacular
June mornings are among the finest in Bali. Temperatures are at their coolest of the day, the trade winds have not yet reached their afternoon strength, and light conditions are exceptional for photography. Sunrise at Tanah Lot, the Batur caldera, or Uluwatu's cliffs in June is genuinely extraordinary. This is the best window for surfing — offshore winds hold the wave faces clean and the lineups are relatively uncrowded.
June afternoons are warm and breezy — the trade winds pick up through midday, providing excellent cooling for beach activities, outdoor dining, and water sports. Unlike the wet season, there is no expectation of afternoon rain. Beach clubs along Seminyak, Canggu, and the Bukit are in full swing. The Bali Arts Festival performances typically begin in the late afternoon and evening.
Afternoon: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM — Breezy & Active
Evening: 5:00 PM – Late — Golden Sunsets, Festival Nights
June evenings are spectacular. Clear skies and low humidity create vivid sunsets — particularly dramatic from the clifftop temples and bars of the Bukit Peninsula. Evenings are warm and comfortable for outdoor dining and live events. The Bali Arts Festival runs evening performances throughout June, making this one of the most culturally rich times to be in Bali.

Bali Arts Festival — Mid-June to Mid-July (Denpasar)
The Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali) is the island's most significant annual cultural event and one of Southeast Asia's premier arts celebrations. Held annually at the Werdi Budaya Arts Centre in Denpasar, the festival runs for a full month and showcases the full breadth of Balinese artistic tradition: legong dance, barong and rangda performances, gamelan orchestras, shadow puppet theatre (wayang kulit), traditional painting, woodcarving, silverwork, and weaving. The festival opens with a magnificent parade of performers in ceremonial dress through Denpasar's streets. Most performances are free or very low cost. Dates typically begin in the third week of June.
Bali International Film Festival / Balinale (June)
The Balinale Bali International Film Festival brings together independent and arthouse films from Indonesia and around the world, screened at venues across Seminyak and Denpasar. A more intimate and culturally engaged alternative to the arts festival — ideal for travellers who love cinema alongside Bali's better-known cultural offerings. Dates vary annually; check balinale.com.
Galungan & Kuningan (Dates Vary — Pawukon Calendar)
Galungan may fall in June in certain years according to the 210-day Balinese Pawukon calendar. This 10-day period — marked by the victory of dharma over adharma — is one of the most visually extraordinary times to be in Bali. Every road lined with penjor bamboo poles, every temple alive with ceremony, every household engaged in prayer and feasting. Check the current Balinese calendar before booking if this is a priority.
